57 / 88 page ![]() DS12511 Rev 5 57/88 L99UDL01 Programmers guide 87 OUT_ON If the OUT_ON bit is not set when writing to this register then the outputs will be initiated or actuated per the programming on the rising edge of EN_OUT. If the OUT_ON bit in the register is set, then upon the rising edge of CSN the outputs are actuated per the programmed sequence, provided that EN_OUT=1. It should be noted that writing OUT_ON=1 during a timed actuation outside of an Emergency mode is NOT supported and is not recommended. It needs to take care there are many registers that set up polarity and actuation parameters. When not in timed actuation the OUT_ON bit will initiate actuation upon the rising edge of CSN (provided that EN_OUT=1) using the information that is in all registers. If the OUT_ON bit is set before the other registers are programmed, erroneous behavior may result. In emergency mode (and EN_OUT=1) the rising edge of CSN will actuate what is in the registers if the OUT_ON bit is set regardless any timed actuation in progress. OUTx_on / EX_OUTx_on These bits will override the programmed timed outputs. If this bit is set, it will turn on the indicated output according to the output configuration (high side / low side) indefinitely. This will occur on the rising edge of CSN regardless of the state of the OUT_ON bit or any other register, provided that EN_OUT=1. The output will remain on until the corresponding OUTx_on/ EX_OUTx_on bit is reset or EN_OUT=0. Disengaging an output override only disables that output. OUTx_on and EX_OUTx_on bits must not be changed at the initiation of or during a timed actuation. Indefinite dynamic braking must be disabled before changing any of the output override bits (OUTx_on, EX_OUTx_on in register 01H) or any of the overridden outputs polarities. OUTx_on works for paralleled outputs as well. To actuate a group of outputs using OUTx_on first assign the appropriate outputs to be in parallel, then drive the master OUTPUT for that group (OUT1 or OUT4) using the OUTx_on bit. OUTx_on will not work when an output is grouped and an output, other than a master output, is commanded on.
