Standby-II Mode

Instandby-IImodemoreclockbuffersareactive

thaninstandby-Imodeandmuchmorecurrentis

used.Standby-IIoccurswhenCEisheldhighona

PTXdevicewithemptyTXFIFO.Ifanewpacket

isuploadedtotheTXFIFOinthismode,thedevice

willautomaticallyenterTXmodeandthepacketis

transmitted.

TX Mode

• PTXdevice(PRIM_RX=0)

TheTXmodeisanactivemodewherethePTX

devicetransmitsapacket.Toenterthismodefrom

powerdownmode,thePTXdevicemusthavethe

PWR_UPbitsethigh,PRIM_RXbitsetlow,a

payloadintheTXFIFO,andahighpulseonthe

CEformorethan10µs.

ThePTXdevicestaysinTXmodeuntilitfinishes

transmittingthecurrentpacket.IfCE=0itreturns

tostandby-Imode.IfCE=1,thenextactionis

determinedbythestatusoftheTXFIFO.Ifthe

TXFIFOisnotemptythePTXdeviceremainsin

TXmode,transmittingthenextpacket.IftheTX

FIFOisemptythePTXdevicegoesintostandby-II

mode.ItisimportanttoneverstayinTXmodefor

morethan4msatonetime.

Iftheautoretransmitisenabled(EN_AA=1)and

autoacknowledgeisrequired(NO_ACK=0),the

PTXdevicewillenterTXmodefromstandby-I

modewhenARDelapsedandnumberofretriedis

lessthanARC.

• PRXdevice(PRIM_RX=1)

ThePRXdevicewillenterTXmodefromRX

modeonlywhenEN_AA=1andNO_ACK=0in

receivedpackettotransmitacknowledgepacket

withpendingpayloadinTXFIFO.

RX Mode

• PRXdevice(PRIM_RX=1)

TheRXmodeisanactivemodewheretheBC9824

radioisconfiguredtobeareceiver.Toenterthis

modefromstandby-Imode,thePRXdevicemust

havethePWR_UPbitsethigh,PRIM_RXbitset

highandtheCEpinsethigh.OrPRXdevicecan

enterthismodefromTXmodeaftertransmitting

anacknowledgepacketwhenEN_AA=1andNO_

ACK=0inreceivedpacket.

Inthismodethereceiverdemodulatesthesignals

fromtheRFchannel,constantlypresentingthe

demodulateddatatothepacketprocessingengine.

The packet processing engine continuously

searchesforavalidpacket.Ifavalidpacketis

found(byamatchingaddressandavalidCRC)

thepayloadofthepacketispresentedinavacant

slotintheRXFIFO.IftheRXFIFOisfull,the

receivedpacketisdiscarded.

ThePRXdeviceremainsinRXmodeuntilthe

MCUconfiguresittostandby-Imodeorpower

downmode.

InRXmodeacarrierdetection(CD)signalis

available.TheCDissettohighwhenaRFsignal

isdetectedinsidethereceivingfrequencychannel.

TheinternalCDsignalisfilteredbeforepresented

toCDregister.TheRFsignalmustbepresentfor

atleast128µsbeforetheCDissethigh.

• PTXdevice(PRIM_RX=0)

ThePTXdevicewillenterRXmodefromTX

modeonlywhenEN_AA=1andNO_ACK=0to

receiveacknowledgepacket.
