Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)

There are two design cases in which immunity to ESD

damageisimportant.

Thefirstcaseisduringhandlingofthetransceiverprior

tomountingitonthecircuitboard.Itisimportanttouse

normalESDhandlingprecautionsforESDsensitivedevices.

Theseprecautionsincludeusinggroundedwriststraps,

workbenches,andfloormatsinESDcontrolledareas.

Thesecondcasetoconsiderisstaticdischargestotheex-

terioroftheequipmentchassiscontainingthetransceiver

parts.TotheextentthattheMT-RJconnectorisexposedto

theoutsideoftheequipmentchassisitmaybesubjectto

whateverESDsystemleveltestcriteriathattheequipment

isintendedtomeet.

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

Mostequipmentdesignsutilizingthishighspeedtrans-

therequirementsofFCCintheUnitedStates,CENELEC
